The Serbian Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka represents sustainable construction, modular design, and a living façade.

The Serbian Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka is guided by the concept of a “Floating Forest,” inspired by the landscape and ecological character of Ratno Ostrvo (Great War Island), a protected natural area in Belgrade. It is the only Expo pavilion to feature a fully living façade.

More than 95% of the materials used are recyclable, and around 80% are intended for reuse in future construction. The primary structure is a steel skeletal frame assembled entirely from rentable, reusable standard components. Using the same modular steel elements as the German Pavilion helps conserve resources while streamlining logistics as well as assembly and disassembly. The construction approach supports flexible reuse and reflects a responsible use of materials in temporary exhibition architecture.
