The objective of research activities is the development, validation and industrial implementation of computer-aided simulation methods for light, highly elastic wind-loaded membrane structures. In a virtual wind channel, the wind flow (incl. wind field generation) and the structure (incl. form-finding) as well as the coupling of both fields for the determination of the dynamic load rating are simulated. It is used where long-span tensile structures are exposed to aeroelastic instabilities due to their construction.
